A regional sales director at Vistry Group has been given a prestigious award for his work with the Royal Air Force Air Cadets.

Lynton Dudgeon, who is regional sales director at Vistry Mercia, has been awarded the Lord Lieutenant’s Certificate for Meritorious Service after 24 years serving the RAFAC in Greater Manchester.

The 46-year-old, who is a Squadron Leader at the Greater Manchester Wing RAF Cadets, was given the award by the Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, Mrs Diane Hawkins, at a ceremony on Monday 13 November, at the Gorton Monastery Manchester.

Lynton, who lives in Wigan, said: “I felt incredibly honoured and proud to receive such an award. I was given the accolade in recognition of the work I have done for the RAF Air Cadets in the selection and development of officers, my drive to raise awareness around mental health and the outreach initiatives I have undertaken to embrace the local community and to improve inclusion and diversity.

“I joined the RAF Air Cadets when I was just 14 years old and it has been a massively important part of my life and has helped shape the person I am today. It means a lot to me that Vistry, the people I work for, are gold award supporters of the Armed Forces Covenant, which ensures that the company is committed to ensuring that our country’s Armed Forces personnel (past and present) and their families are treated with respect.

“We have some Armed Forces reservists and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers And Veterans working at Vistry and it is great to see people with a military background prospering in the housebuilding industry.”

Vistry Group has also signed the BuildForce Veterans Alliance Charter, strengthening its support for ex-military personnel looking to transfer their skills and experience into the construction sector. In addition, the housebuilder also offers discounts on new homes to serving personnel, active reservists or those who have recently left the Armed Forces.

Lynton first joined the construction industry as part-time sales advisor to help him pay for his studies at Liverpool John Moores University.

“My mum was working as a sales advisor for a housebuilding company, so she was able to get me a job doing the same at weekends and during the holidays,” said Lynton. “That was when I was bitten by the house-selling bug and it has been passion of mine ever since. I feel lucky that I am able to earn my living by doing something that I genuinely love.”

Lynton worked for a number of construction firms and worked his way up the promotion ladder before he joined Bovis Homes as an area sales director in 2007. He was made regional sales director at Vistry Mercia in 2013, where he oversees seven housing locations.

“It is an exciting role which see me in charge of a team of 13 sales advisors, five office staff and three area sales directors,” he said. “It is my challenge to lead and mentor the team ensure that they enjoy their job, hit sales targets and keep customers happy.”

Freya Halsall, marketing manager at Vistry Mercia, said: “Knowing Lynton as we do we were not in the least bit surprised when he announced that he had been given this coveted award after knowing of his committed service to the RAFAC. We would like to congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition.

“Lynton’s dedication and enthusiasm for his job at Vistry shine through and act as an inspiration for not only his team but any colleagues who work alongside him.

“We are very proud to have Lynton as a senior member of our sales team and also to support service personnel through our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant, the BuildForce Veterans Alliance Charter and by our policy of offering serving personnel, active reservists or those who have recently left the military, discounts on new homes.”
