Cardiff-based developer Lovell celebrates fifth consecutive Gold in the RoSPA Health and Safety Awards

Leading partnership homes developer Lovell has been awarded Gold in the RoSPA Health and Safety Awards for the fifth consecutive year.

The developer has received the prestigious award in recognition of its practices and achievements in helping its employees and the public to stay safe at its developments and offices.

Having run for 65 years, RoSPA is one of the most prestigious and recognised schemes in the world, with almost 2,000 entries every year. It allows organisations to benchmark safety performance each year, ensure consistent performance between sites, and demonstrate an ongoing commitment to raising health and safety standards.

The RoSPA Gold Award recognises those who have achieved a very high level of performance, demonstrating well-developed occupational health and safety management systems, outstanding control of risk and very low levels of error, harm and loss.

James Duffett, regional managing director at Lovell, said: “We are thrilled to have been awarded our fifth RoSPA Gold Award in recognition of our strong health and safety practices and record, especially during this challenging time where health and safety is more important than ever.

“At Lovell, safety is extremely important to us and we put it at the forefront of all our activities, with everyone working to achieve the highest possible standards. This award reflects the continuous improvement in our health and safety management throughout the business, and I’m very proud to see this officially recognised by leading safety organisation RoSPA.”

Julia Small, RoSPA’s achievements director, said: “The RoSPA Awards scheme is the longest-running of its kind in the UK, but it receives entries from organisations across the globe, making it one of the most sought-after achievement awards for health and safety worldwide.

“RoSPA is very proud of the achievements of its entrants, and with this award we recognise the best of the best, those organisations that have gone the extra mile, raising the bar for the delivery of safety in the workplace. Employees, wherever they may be should be able to go to work safe in the knowledge that they will return home unharmed and healthy at the end of every day. Our RoSPA Award winners are central to achieving this goal. By entering they are driving up standards and setting new safety benchmarks for organisations across the world.”

Currently, Lovell is working on numerous projects across the region, including one of Wales’ largest regeneration programmes. Royal Victoria Court, in Newport, is a £85m mixed tenure development creating 528 new homes in partnership with Tirion Homes and Welsh Government, with work having commenced in May 2021.

In Weston-super-Mare, the popular Foxglove Meadows development is now well underway, delivering 81 open market homes and 49 affordable homes in partnership with Abri.

Work on a £110m Former Defence Medical Equipment Depot (DMED) site in Wiltshire, called Drummond Park, is expected to begin autumn 2021 and will deliver 412 new homes.

The developer’s Ymyl Yr Afon in Merthyr Vale, Golwg Y Bryn in Ebbw Vale and Keepers Gate in Weston-super-Mare are all set to complete this month (October), bringing a total of 303 open market sale and affordable homes.
